SUPGlobal was set up in 2007 soon after the first SUP boards arrived in the UK. It helped bring together SUPers when the sport was in its infancy. After a hiatus in 2013 the site has returned in 2018 with a new look and a new purpose.
We will continue to publish the latest SUP news, reviews and tips to make this a central point for SUP information. We will also be offering SUP coaching and clinics in 2019 to help inspiring SUPers get the best performance and have the most fun on the water. Watch this space.
Matt Argyle has been involved in stand up paddle surfing since its introduction to the UK. One of the first few people to get a board in 2006, just at first for fitness reasons, to compliment his surfing on days when the waves went flat. As with so many SUPers the realisation that surfing these boards is such an amazing experience soon saw him taking out the SUP as the weapon of choice in the waves.
Matt is was the Chairman of the British Stand Up Paddle Association, helped to design SUP teaching and training courses, engaged with British Waterways and the Environment Agency to wides SUP riders access to waterways within the UK. He has been a sponsored rider for GONG, Nah Skwell and JP Surfboards. He has always used Kialoa paddles, but frequently tries all kinds of kit as part of the SUPGlobal test team. Matt has been supported by 2XS through out his SUP contest career.
Matt has been a successful SUP racer and surfer, but reduced the racing to concentrate on the surfing in recent years. Matt has never been out of the top 8 UK SUP surfers for the last 10 years. He frequently competes in National and Club contests.
In 2017 he won the BSUPA SUP Surfing Masters division and came second in the Open Division, this meant he was selected for the Great Britain SUP and Paddle Board Team 2018, who will compete in the ISA World SUP Championships on Hainan Island, China.
